Software Engineer
Cheltenham
12-month initial contract
Role Summary:
Working as part of a small team of software engineers, the candidates will provide software support to several key activities including documentation updates, code updates and code scrutiny. There will be some involvement in executing software builds on the System rigs as part of code updates and debugging activities. They will also be other adhoc tasks as and when required. Reporting to the software team leader the suitable candidates will be expected to be pro-active, able to work on their own and with minimal supervision. Equally they must also be team players and able to able to co-operate with other disciplines within the wider team.
Key Activities:
* Authoring and modification of existing software documentation.
* Code updates.
* Code scrutiny.
* Configuration control of software artefacts and documentation.
* Working to cost and schedule as determine by the software cost account manager (CAM).
* Tracking and reporting of task progress to the software team leader/CAM.
* Working in collaboration with the Systems team to determine requirements.
* Software/Hardware integration in the lab.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Production/update of documentation to company standards.
* Update/review of code.
* Debugging and testing of code on System rigs.
* Working to cost and schedule as determined by the project management.
* Tracking and reporting to tech/lead and cost account manager.
* Configuration Control of software artefacts and documentation.
* Liaise with other team members including the wider team outside of immediate software team.
Qualifications / Requirements:
* Experience of working to DO178B Level A.
* Ability to pro-actively work within a team environment and with minimal supervision.
* 'C' programming language experience (5+ years).
* Ability/experience updating software documentation.
* Experiencing with software traceability (comprehension and authoring).
* Software/Hardware integration experience.
* Embedded software experience.
* Knowledge of embedded processors (ideally ColdFire MCF5484 & Texas TMS320)
* Configuration Control experience (ideally Serena Dimensions but not essential).
* Experience working with Requirements capture tools (ideally DOORS)
