Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit a Technical Architect for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of c.£500-550/day (outside of IR35) based in Edinburgh.

Responsibilities:

* Collaborating on requirements and solutions with one or more Agile teams.

* Ensuring development teams are aware of and adhering to the principles, standards and best practices set out by the Design Authority.

* Producing, reviewing and improving best practices, standards and principles in line with the direction set by the Design Authority.

* Escalating design issues to the Design Authority where necessary.

* Championing ideas/changes/designs that you and/or the team believe are beneficial, influencing key stakeholders where appropriate.

* Ensuring an appropriate level of design documentation is produced and updated

* Ensuring that developed software complies with non-functional software requirements such as accessibility, security, UI/UX, performance, maintainability and deployability.

* Assisting the Product Owners and Business Service Manager to prioritise the backlog by providing insight into technical benefits that changes might achieve.

* Coach and mentor junior staff.

* Shape and lead technical options assessments to help the organisation create an IT landscape that supports and enables the business.

Essential Requirements:

* Experience in delivering or leading software development projects.

* Practical experience of introducing new efficient processes or concepts in the development environment.

* Experience using tools to support rapid development, iteration and delivery.

* Ability to mentor developers.

* Experience creating solution designs.

* Experience designing and implementing a solution using a service based architecture.

* Experience working in the Agile delivery models - such as SCRUM and/or KANBAN frameworks, together with XP engineering practices.

Technical Requirements:

* Experience designing and implementing REST services.

* Experience developing using Java and/or Python.

* Experience defining and leading technology option assessments.

* Experience designing/implementing modern web delivered applications.
