Work within the Weapons design team on projects through all stages from the initial concept through the design and development stage to the testing of one or more prototypes, through to final manufacture and implementation of a new

product or system.

-Software systems concept generation, based on internal and external customer requirements.

- Developing analysis models using tools such as Mathlab / Simulink, Excel or computer programming to analyse and optimise system performance.

- Creating and reviewing specifications for sub-systems,

- Working with colleagues to design embedded software systems, with close liaision with the electronics hardware engineering to develop the optimum hardware / software system.

- Software Engineering for embedded systems, including software analysis and design, coding, integration and testing, using embedded C on Texas Instruments microcontrollers.

- Development of Test software using Labview / Teststand and C# with CAN / RS422 data interfaces.

- Systematically improving the detailed design of a piece of electronic equipment;

- Integration of sub-systems into an evolving product design, including laboratory tests, shopfloor development testing and off site trials.

- Following defined design and development processes; including product safety regulations requirements

- Liaising with other departments and external people to ensure the product requirements can be achieved in a cost effective manner in the required timescales.

- Ensuring that the product will operate reliably in the military environment, and can be manufactured reliably, and will perform consistently in specified operating environments;

- Representing the company with customers, suppliers and sub-contractors;

- Planning work to meet budgets & timescales;

- Supervising technicians and craftspeople and other colleagues;

- Generation and review of technical reports and documentation;

- Keeping up to date with developments in technologies and regulations

Execution of the work will be achieved with minimal supervision. The definition of the task, outputs, budget and timescale constraints will be agreed with the senior engineering representative at the outset.

Accountability for the outputs of subordinates, checking of their work, will be his/her responsibility.

The source, assemblage and assessment of all information required to do the work, for self and subordinates, will be his/her sole responsibility.

The willingness and capability of the individual to contribute to successful teamwork, and their recognition / response to the needs and desires of the end user of this work, will be crucial in his/her development.

A preponderance of assignments will be within his/her own technical discipline, though frequent excursions to multidisciplines tasks can be expected.

Take responsibility for design authority for own/team work package.

Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility, expertise and delegated authority.
