Our client is looking to take on a Solution Architect for an initial 6 month contract. They require the Architect to ensure efficient and effective design/specification, development, maintenance and support the IT systems, both corporate and also departmental to ensure best use of the organisations investment in the IT department.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an exciting, vibrant IT team and be a part of multiple infrastructure projects as a vital member of the team.

In your role, you will be considered as the highest level of technical escalation; 3rd line support for the datacentre (SAN, Blades, virtualisation, etc), hosting and smooth running of applications, networks (WAN, LAN, Sip, Internet, switches, firewalls etc), desktop services (packaging, OS changes, and performance) as well as core Microsoft Applications (Exchange, Lync, SharePoint, Dynamics, Systems Manager, server, and AD).

You will also be the lead on technical 'problem management' activity to reduce the number of repeat calls, to eliminate issues at source, to ensure all change and release activity does not negatively impact on the service desk, provide technical designs, strategic plans, and detailed planning information to influence and shape the ICT and digital strategies.

Essential skills:

* Network and Systems Security, ensuring that all regulatory and legislative requirements are adhered to

* LAN / WAN / Firewall / Routing / Switching / WiFi network configuration

* VOIP / PBX (Telephony and unified communications platforms)

* Security systems including firewalls and internet access

* Secure Remote Access Services (CITRIX / OWA / VPN / 2 - Factor Authentication)

* Data Centre Management (Physical server infrastructure, Virtualised infrastructure, (VMware)

* Windows Server and active Directory services (Group Policy)

Desirable:

* Exchange Server, OWA, Lync System Management (Messaging and Telephony)

* Sharepoint services and web hosting platforms

* Storage Management (Arrays, SANs, NAS, HP 3Par) and Print Services

* Content filtering, Email / Web Filtering and anti-virus systems software

* Microsoft System Centre (ConfMan, OpsMan, ServMan, VirtMan, DataProcMan)

* SQL / Oracle platform and clusters

* Software transition lifecycle (packaging and deployment)

* Blackberry Enterprise Management and other BYOD Technology
